Barn Close Pre-School is a privately run pre-school which was established in 1968. The present owner, Janet Beverley, has been associated with the Pre-School since 1998. We are situated in the Quaker Meeting House, Handside Lane, Welwyn Garden City, Hertfordshire. The Pre-School has the use of two bright, airy rooms with plenty of space for play, and a safe, secure garden to provide outside play. We provide a broad range of safe, well-maintained and developmentally appropriate resources.

The Pre-School is registered with Ofsted (Office for Standards in Education). We are regularly inspected by them to ensure that we comply with all the various regulations and registration requirements. Our Registration Number is EY446475. We are a member of the Pre-School Learning Alliance, a national voluntary organisation which supports pre-school education. Our membership ensures that we are constantly in touch with new thinking and up-to-date information.

Our aims are as follows:

To help children learn through play as a part of the National Foundation Stage;

To provide children with a wide range of resources and activities in order to broaden their experiences and awareness of the world around them;

To encourage children to develop independence, self-management and responsibility;

To encourage children to make effective relationships with other children and adults;

To provide a caring, safe, secure, stimulating and happy environment;

To help children progress at their own rate, acknowledging individual needs and extending their knowledge, understanding and skills.
